I believe it may be a problem with browser cookies. This can happen if you use SI from several computers and logout of one of them. I assume you have tried hitting the "sign out" link and logging back in? Please write to me privately and I'll see if we can track down the issue.

If anyone else has this happening please send me a PM as well.

I found the problem, and it was only affecting you. It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but this is what caused it:

(1) There is a limit of 255 public posts per day for a single user, because for some reason the database uses an efficient "tiny" integer which has that as a numerical limit. I suppose the theory in the design was that no one should ever post more than 255 times in a day, and it wasn't worth planning for any errors that might result from that.

(2) I restarted the database server over Thanksgiving as part of routine maintenance, and failed to restart the mechanism that resets the 255-counter to zero.

It had nothing to do with browser cookies, and you were the only one on the site affected by it, by virtue of you being the first to hit 255 posts since Thanksgiving.

Sorry about that. I'm still working on why some people are occasionally getting the "an error occurred" message.
