William sorry to contradict your post, but do you understand how the investment community and investment seminars work? What is the purpose of these investment seminars? What do these guys get paid "the big bucks" for? Are they there to discuss their wife's flower arrangements?

Your understanding is very naive. Management WILL discuss the impact of the Asian situation and DD competition at the DMG conference. If that discussion is materially different than the current street forecasts it will be pumped into the spreadsheet models for Quantum earnings and the earnings forecasts will be adjusted accordingly. That will likely take a few days. Before that many of the institutiuons will jump out of the stock. Almost ten million shares traded to the downside while the P/E is around 11? If the adjustments are significant enough, and managment is so inclined to inform the "average investor", then a statement will come out.

OK, maybe the story hasn't changed and Quantum will not be effected by a 25%-40% drop in desktop DD prices, and therefore, Quantum managment hasn't felt the need to issue any statements warning of revised prospects. What does your reason and logic tell you?

I think business is still good at Quantum and the price is now cheap. but I also know the kind of details that are discussed at these meetings and the likelihood that Quantum managment will just ignore every question from analysts and institutional investors. No I don't think they will ask about their wife's flower arrangments.

William, I'm sorry to say you're naive if you think companies don't tell analysts things in private that they don't say in press releases. I cited some examples in my prior post. I'm not a conspiracy theorist either; I only observe real events.
