Position vs. daytrading vs. opportunity trading

I think labels are limiting. So when one thinks of himself as a "daytrader" (hey, what do you tell the relatives when they ask 'what do you do for a living?'), holding overnight is likened to a cardinal sin. On the other hand, if you're a position trader, you tend to cringe at all the spread and commissions you are generating when you make that inadvertant daytrade.

I like to think of myself as an "opportunity trader" - daytrading when the market doesn't dwell on gapping for the bulk of its 'movement' and position trading, when it does. Occasionally, I am a 'firetrader', when a daytrade goes sour and I am 'forced' to hold it overnight. :>

Hey, to each, his own.
