"Personally, I think there are too many people in the world already and we are taxing the Earth resources to the limit. I don't see the population cliff problems as a big problem in the large scheme of things."

I'm with you, pal! I see population as the root of so many problems, problems that could be eased or solved by reducing population. We'd NEVER accept 7 billion deer on the planet, but humans are much more rapacious and destructive of the environment than deer. That's compounded by the billions that see how Americans and others in the industrialized world live, and will work and strive like the devil to get theirs, and become uber-rapacious industrial consumers.

China is the only country that has taken population control seriously. It's a difficult issue because religion gets dragged into it, and it becomes a RELIGIOUS issue, not just a resource/population math problem.

I'll be dead before it becomes critical, so, I'm not personally that concerned. At some point, people will realize that not everyone on the planet can live an industrial lifestyle, and the population issue may get some attention.
