Wouldn't that be nice? Don't count on it.

The only problem with the following comparison
is BAY's quarter ends about a monthe after
CS and COMS, but it is a little comforting:

FIRST CALL eps revisions: (before CS and COMS warnings)

BAY Up revisons last 30 days: 1
Down revisions last 30 days: 0

3COM Up revisions last 30 days: 0
Down revisions last 30 days: 22

Cabletron Up revisions last 30 days: 0
Down revisions last 30 days: 2

With a full month yet to go in this quarter for BAY, I don't think mgmt. can really dare to say anything. But, it would be really supportive at this MISERABLE time for techs if BAY could reiterate what it has already said, namely, that sequential revenues will rise slightly this quarter. I still think they kind of held back some revenue from the last quarter (which was a good one), so unless December busts (which it might) I'm still optimistic that BAY will meet consensus for this quarter. Which will be a huge relief.

Cabletron's problems are company specific. They are not well positioned for the products that will be in demand. I really don't understand this DEC thing.

COMS is going to turn out okay, eventually, but it will take a while.

BAY is well positioned and definitely has the mgmt acumen to deal effectively with whatever roadblocks show up. I think it will bounce back fairly quickly, assuming Y2K doesn't screw us on revenues as so many suggest.

Oh boy, here we go again. I was halfway convinced that my margin troubles were over.
