>> Dollars are not speech, corporations are not people.

Dollars aren't speech, but they are necessary to have any voice at all.

Corporations are not people, they're corporations, which are aggregations of people.

The question is whether there is the freedom of speech for any given group of people should be banned. The rather obvious answer is, "Of course, not." If you did ban that, it is effectively banning the free speech of an individual who lacks the money to have a voice.

The entire issue is a no-brainer. The decision doesn't apply merely to corporations. Forget corporations.

a) Take the simplest cases: Should one person be banned from spending money to be heard if he chooses to do so? If so, why?

b) Take the next-simplest case: Should two people be banned from forming a partnership to be heard if they choose to do so? If so, why?

Labor unions aren't people. The ACLU isn't a person.
