Leftwingers want to raise taxes. Nothing new about this.

The real question is why in hell would tax policy be in any way involved in these negotiations?

After you have spending cuts in hand, then it is fine to talk about raising taxes. To hold essential spending cuts hostage to a tax increase is just a bad idea from the outset.

Al, I've seen Obama meet with business leaders before. He's just as hostile to the producers of society today as he was 4 years ago.

That's why I've become rather cynical in my opinions of Obama. All he does is talk about the need to raise taxes on income above $250K/year. He even goes campaigning on that issue, because that's all he knows.

Like any other liberal, he takes the productivity of American businesses for granted. But they can easily invest elsewhere and take their jobs with them. Even Obama understands that risk but has shown no clue whatsoever on how to properly deal with it.
