You can't estimate asset values just by looking at a balance sheet. If someone were to value their refinery because they plan to acquire it from AIPN. They would look at potential and estimated cash flows(EBIDA) and compare it to industry averages. They would look at the Venezuelan supply channel and the local demand channel, then estimate potential vs. probable revenues, earnings and EBITDA for 1998 and 1999.

Mr. Bossey, used a more crude valuation method however it is widely accepted within this industry.
