Certainly, if there were a real "Jesus" he was not well known.
True but neither was Socrates well known in the sense that Lindsay Lohan is well known with modern media. There is no reason to doubt that he existed but there is sufficient reason to doubt 99% of everything written about his existence. The Catholics nailed him to the cross and kept him there for good reason - he was no use to them as a living example. As a dead resurrected example he gave the multitudes hope that their political enslavement would at least have a release in heaven's unearthly estate.

It was all about keeping the rubes entertained while emptying their pockets.
