So I thought I’d look at the dollars and cents — and even I am somewhat shocked. Those tax hikes would raise $1.6 trillion over the next decade; according to the CBO, raising the Medicare age would save $113 billion in federal funds over the next decade.

Yes, the common wisdom is that raising the Medicare age is serious business.........it means you really are trying to solve the deficit problem. Of course as it turns out, the common wisdom isn't so wise and is just another winger talking point.

The reason the Medicare cuts are "non-serious" is that they are insignificant (11 billion a year? That's less than 10% of the estimated WASTE).
