Paranoia is well-founded, but meanwhile it behooves analysts at big investment firms not to advise their own small investors to go in foolish directions. I can't imagine, say, Meryl Lynch willfully urging their clients to buy stocks that their own fund managers are selling. But maybe I'm naive. That 100-dollar target is awfully pretty.

I'm anxious to see how PC sales go this Christmas. I'd think Compaq is something of a hedge in the tech sector. It's going to be helped by a robust retail sector, even as true tech companies get hammered.

I dont' have enough dough to participate, but I think the boxes will do well in the private sector through 98.
