As a pragmatist I see the evils of over promising and the cost results of doing so. You want to pay for the endless cost of borrowing so much money - then you pay it back and don't ask me to do so. There are many good republicans and democrats such as those represented by Simpson Bowles who could find a solution to our economic mess were they not pummeled by the extremist on either side.
