It's not quite as bad as it sounds. What Boehner did was tell Obama what he was willing to use his position as Speaker to try to advance. We're running out of time and Boehner's proposal was a tentative one. What this means though, is that despite Boehner trying to meet Obama somewhere in the middle, a deal isn't going to get done before year's end.
