I agree on all point, and I think the VIX is not well understood... the VIX measures anticipated volatility, not volatility itself... therefore, both the VIX and the market could possibly move in the same direction simultaneously... and I guess it does on occasion...

Definition of 'VIX - CBOE Volatility Index'

The ticker symbol for the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) Volatility Index, which shows the market's expectation of 30-day volatility. It is constructed using the implied volatilities of a wide range of S&P 500 index options. This volatility is meant to be forward looking and is calculated from both calls and puts. The VIX is a widely used measure of market risk and is often referred to as the "investor fear gauge".

There are three variations of volatility indexes: the VIX tracks the S&P 500, the VXN tracks the Nasdaq 100 and the VXD tracks the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

"I also think the market is likely going to rally to disappoint a lot of those put buyers looking for a bigger sell-off. The VIX should come off some after the big ramp the last 3 days. It's strange how the VIX actually dropped as the market dropped the first half of last month and now it's ramped up the last 3 days while the market hasn't done much:"

VIX now down over 4% as the market shook out as many people as it could on the morning dip. Gold might get another rejected sell signal after looking like it was breaking, so all signs might be green again for gold and silver. Very tricky market this morning.

As for waiting for gold 1500, sure that might happen, but there's going to be a lot of trading action back and forth first, and I wouldn't be surprised by much higher prices before much lower.
