I do recall reading about our best Scientists discovering how to tame the atom in the 20th century. I don't recall any prior scientists writing about such things. I did hear that the myth of Sodom may have mirrored an actual event--the eruption of Santorini??

I think it not unlikely that primitive views of destruction from volcanic activity may have been described in nuclear terms. The "explosion" is huge, terrible, and terrifying...

Then again, if aliens stopped for coffee and left or stayed, then they may have blown some stuff up, I guess?
