That's unlikely as there are only 1.3 billion people in China, but another 5 billion elsewhere [give or take a few].
<we must recognize that the world has seen the awakening of a very hungry monster. Their consumption, in a general sense, may eventually dwarf all other consumption. >

In the 1980s, Japan was going to rule the world too, but that's not happening after all. 23 years later, Japan is still wayyyyyy down from the peak.

Correct: The consumption that appeared from nowhere. That consumption, in a general sense, may eventually dwarf all other consumption.

And its repercussions are already felt. That new demand boosted the price food, and non food agriculturals. Boosted commodities.

Result? Arab Springs. The governing elites were ruling their countries as tribes. Chiefs were allocating food, housing and religion to people and let them multiply.

They multiplied a lot. Then the new consumption appeared in the market out of nowhere. Chiefs of those countries started being booted out.

The swath from Maghreb to Indonesia will face a very daunting future.
