My $.02 RE: Nasdaq Resumption - 3Com no first sale(12/03/97)
I can't believe what a bunch of crooks run the market. Analyst Eric Blachno of Bear Stearns hit this inventory writedown story right on the money about a month ago (whenever the stock dropped from the 40's to the 30's). I tended to discount his opinion since no one from 3Com
commented one way or the other. I believe SEC law requires public companies to inform their shareholders on material issues effecting the share value promptly; this did not happen!;however, someone at 3Com must have fed analyst Blachno information about the seriousness of the inventory problem and 3Com's intended response to it (write down!) weeks ago. Very Fishy! Justice would be served if the SEC investigated how Mr. Blachno developed his information, and held all the collaborating accountable.
I feel sorry for all you 3Com longs out there (I'm out). Tomorrow 3Com is going to take a major hit and there's not much you can do. I've become a shortseller for the time being.
