After Earth Day, the sky is falling pseudo-scientists (based on James Hansen's climate model btw) first forecast global cooling as the great danger. As it became clear that wasn't going to happen, they switched to global warming. With 15 years of no global warming, it's becoming clear this isn't going to happen either. Not that they've given up on warming ... but they're already trying out new sky is falling scary stories.

First, ocean acidification due to CO2 in the atmosphere. Hey, acid rain had people scared for awhile, maybe they can scare a lot of people that the oceans will turn to acid.

Second, extreme weather. This is beautiful conceptually. Basically, they can claim that any unpleasant weather event is caused by excess CO2. Bad weather has always happened and always will. Few people know much about climate history - that's the great thing about this.
