I hope you are right, but logic doesn't tell me that you are. I know how seductive it is to believe that money printing and borrowing to excess can lead to prosperity. It's the ultimate free lunch and everyone loves a free lunch. But there is always a price to pay. Longer range thinkers know that. It is easy to pull demand forward to today to make things seem rosy. It doesn't take a genius nor a nobel prize winner to figure out how to do that. You all award Bernanke high marks for taking the easy road of sugar highs. If he were a real genius and resolute to do what is necessary, then he would be doing the harder thing, which would be to go against what 99% of Americans want and not enable congress to spend trillions we don't have and not bail out the big banks and not engage in money printing and financial repression. Those actions would have set us up for long term prosperity by forcing the liquidation of bad debts in the system.

Instead, he pulled demand forward, which has virtually guaranteed anemic long term growth rates. Three cheers for Bernanke for doing the easy thing. Sorry, I'm not buying it.
