It is a noble tradition in many societies that if one is confronted with the great dishonor of having been proven wrong, then the only response that gives honor to the admission of having committed a terrible wrong and to secure an honorable place in the hereafter is to make amends, such as hari-kari. Now I'm not suggesting that you do this----maybe asking for forgiveness would be sufficient.
