TJ:

I have a small service business (all due to government regulation).

I've just completed year 2 of training my assistant. Not an easy task and he became sick which has slowed his progress considerably. On my 5 year plan he is still in year one versus year 3. I actually hired him as a summer intern and a year after he graduated I offered him a position.

One key point is loyalty and of course it goes both ways. Hard to find, nurture and develop.

Unfortunately considering I'm 57 my clients want a back up plan but I'm looking at, it I think like you, in the sense that I'm spreading myself too thin. I'm now considering hiring a more experienced individual to step in which entails more cost and risk. I found the past year I had very little time for relaxation and family so I have to figure something out.

This of course is the good problem to have as I've been in the opposite position with no revenue and plenty of time for relaxation and family.

Life and business go on.
