The bear case for Apple but even more so for Dell and HPQ is that there are players like GOOG, AMZN and now MSFT that are willing to give away hardware at or even below cost, just to lock in people in their ecosystem and make profits elsewhere. AAPL owns at least their ecosystem, which is considered superior by many; and as long as it stays that way, they should prosper.

DELL and HOW have nothing but mediocre hardware. They try to move in the enterprise space but many others are already entrenched and the same playbook may just repeat itself anyways there too in a few years (just look at Oracle producing hardware basically at breakeven).
