Based on your instructions the chart below of the $SPX shows a fairly close corolation between Moving Average Convergence and Andrew's Fork trend direction in weekly time-frames.

That means that I can eliminate one or the other (the fork or the bands) and expect a near same result long term but short term meaning swingtraders or daytraders should likely stick to short term oscillators like Williams R, Stochastics, MACD and basic trendlines.
