Al, it's pretty clear that Obama doesn't want any taxes raised on the "middle class." Promising people guaranteed health care (under whatever machinations of ObamaCare) and telling them that someone richer than they will pay for it is indeed promising them free stuff. No politician has the guts to tell people that they should pay more to get more. That involves a level of trust in government that not even Obama with all of his charisma can muster. Tenchusatsu
