Has everyone already forgotten that Quantum just held an analysts meeting at Comdex. Its unlikely that things have changed dramatically since. Also, I would not expect analysts from other firms to be at a DMG conference so it would not seem a good place for Quantum to issue a changed outlook. The Comdex meeting would have been the logical time to have changed guidance. (And they did discuss some negative changes in the outlook at Comdex). The small earnings reductions from several analysts can be construed to reflect the increased risk of Quantum missing numbers. My conclusion is that Quantum's management can't yet tell for certain where the quarter will end up. With the business in such a state of disarray, I'm sure they don't want to announce either that they will make earnings or be in a certain range and then have to come back and revise downward.
