RICHARD,

Nice post. Great Story!

Question. How are they the first nationwide provider? How could they compete when they are soo small? Does anyone know of this Co.?

"Next week, Santa Clara-based Covad Communications is expected to
announce plans to become the first nationwide provider of a fast way to surf the Internet known as Digital Subscriber Lines."

[Covad and ADSL]

<<<Covad has a delicate relationship with the Baby Bells, which are both suppliers of phone lines and competitors in the DSL market. (So far, the Bells are only operating in their own phone-service territories.)

Analysts said Covad has been secretive because it didn't want the Bells to know the scale of its ambitions. The Bells might strike a better deal with a small DSL competitor than a potentially big one. >>>

Interesting article and creative marketing with its reasons for not revealing their plans to the telcos.

Check their website:

Looks as though they're just getting started.
