Deregulation and bank over reach (almost) killed our economy (rescued by Bush/Obama policy).

But if the New Deal gave us 70 years of prosperity then certainly lets double down. And there is no doubt we've been the worlds most successful economy since the New Deal was implemented. Coincidence?

Unfortunately, RW, it doesn't work that way. There is no free lunch. That 70 years of perceived prosperity came at the expense of future generations' standards of living.

That's the downside to living on borrowed money. Eventually, the fun stuff is over.

The New Deal didn't give us prosperity. It prolonged the Depression which only ended because FDR was diverted from his war on domestic enemies by the necessity of a war on foreign enemies. If he'd been alive at the end of the war, we might not have recovered.

RW,
But if the New Deal gave us 70 years of prosperity
It didn't. But it did form the basis of the entitlement mentality we have today.

Can't have a chicken in every pot if you continually raise taxes on the ones raising the chickens.

>> A deliberate choice was made during the Great Depression to narrow the gap between the wealthy and everyone else via tax policy and regulations.

Yes, it is called the New Deal and it has killed our economy 70 years later.

Did you catch it? 70 years later and the New Deal finally does the dirty deed. Amazing how some people analyze things.

* A new Politico/George Washington University Battleground Poll shows 60% support raising taxes on income over $250,000 a year. The poll also found that "only 38% believe the Republicans' argument that raising taxes on households earning more than $250,000 would hurt the economy, whereas 58% don't buy it."
