Really? You think AAPL is a better short than AMZN? Or a short at all?

MDU/NBR/ and APPL -

There have been talks to MDU breakup. People who have been looking at MDU might wanna dig into it more...

NBR got an HSR for Peak oil services to be sold to HKW Capital Partners IV, L.P. - so Sergio, i believe the divesiture process has started. If they execute, then the divestitures in addition to a uptrend in nat. gas prices should give you a decent return on NBR over the medium term (1yr+).

APPL - there are many reasons why APPL is down, one of the biggest is the fiscal cliff - people are taking lots of cap. gains off the table. Shorting APPL is an interesting idea, however, i will do a lot of HW before shorting it or buy puts and not go in naked.

And in some other news - DELL is moving towards $11. ANYONE looked at GNTX?

AAPL why would you short it? The only reason I can guess is that you think they will have hits to margins in near future. I'm staying long and would buy more if it wasn't already 10% of my portfolio. Walk into an Apple store sometime and tell me what your gut tells you; are they losing their edge? Then walk by a Windows store for a good laugh.

Noooo, don't short a company with so much cash and no debt. This has proved disastrous for me. If you want to be in the shorting business Coinstar is good IMO and HP is good. Haven't looked at the HP anything, but the company I work for uses HP everything. My colleague asked our manager if he could bring his personal laptop to work so that he can do his job. HP PCs and laptops are very very bad from what I have seen in the last 5 years. I don't even know the prices, but they are not reliable. A.. Herbalife is a good short if you think there is Justice and Pyramid schemes will be shut down.
