I used to work in Power Conversion Electronics for about 3 years. My employment was with Miller Electric Manufacturing Co. in Appleton, Wisconsin. I found it to be a very complicated challenging field. The vendors continue to compete in making devices (transistors, etc.) which use less power than the next guy. To get the benefits, proper application is crucial. Let's face it, as consumer electronic products keep growing smaller, power consumption is a prime factor. Keep an eye on this. I don't know anything about the new engineer IMP has hired but I can say that in this field, engineering experience is what counts and you won't get that from some hot-shot punk right out of college.
