The book of Job predates Epicurus and covers the same ground. The Summarians & Babylonians had similar stories the Jews borrowed from (fact) , so did the Egyptians of why no good deed goes unpunished & why the righteous & innocent suffer evil, exactly the point made here. And there's alot of fudging with dates when you talk to the indoctrinated religious apologists about who wrote what , when & where. Everybody is trying to draw back to some ancient antiquity to prove their authenticity. Just look at Pan Arab movement today or the problems of Palestine & Israel for an example of this very natural human trait , that even you couldn't miss. The Jews really weren't even a coherent religion till the 3rd century BC when you move beyond all the religious propagandas, they were still irrationally trying to decide which animals to slaughter just 2000yrs ago , one would think that the Jews invented righteousness, honor & deep reflection, hardly the case. *Human beings & human tribal cultures have been overlapping, trading & exchanging ideas with each other all down thru time, as this is the natural process of culutral evolution. Get off your high horse and stuff your dates of antiquity , you know nothing at all of how far back go the human cultural timelines or the true ancient history of the species.

You not liking the way the world is doesn't amount to much. You mean that i don't live , or exist, or think , or reflect, or interact with friends , associates & family and feel just like you in the world ? But don't find myself jumping up & down waving my arms in some white, middle class enclave in Colorado listening to a Ted Haggard preach his Holey Gospel of a 5,000 yr old earth? Maybe this is the way the world is for you, or some Taliban Chieftan, or fundamentalist Jew, or a Wahabi moralist Muslim in Saudi Arabia following a wandering creed of some ancient medieval charmed illliterate but its not for me or my people > My heritage is from a now peaceful people, that were great sailors, the first to circumnavigate the world & trade, thank you very much, my great grandfather was a whaler and the sea & America the Free & prosperous was his "Life" .
