The med group I use shows the write off as part of the documentation I get from my insurance. If no one or the IRS doesn't care why is it recorded on the bill?? And there are some very high write-offs, sometimes 3-4 times the amount actually collected... So if write-offs are taken by some, as deductions, then a lot of MD's aren't paying very much in taxes...
