Bob,

You may want to bump it to $5

Bob:

This sounds like a broker trying to protect us from ourselves :). I actually moved my funds from Merrill a couple of years ago as they would not let me purchase stocks under $5.

Mart, MAUXF, now a significant portion of my portfolio (not my contest pick) would be off as it is only $1.50ish. Pays a 13% dividend (5 cents a quarter) and production is currently shut in due to pipeline disruptions from delta floods as well as export bottleneck due to the backlog from the flooding. Losing 2 months production may impact the dividend, time will tell.

Tangasso, TGC, a small portion of my portfolio and my pick last year, is 60 cents. They only make 4 cents a share so a 15x multiple but someday they will start fracking their Kansas properties. I know I'm dreaming but if the Kansas wells continue to improve it may head back to $2 to $3 (it spiked to over $3 when WTI as on its run to $147). Hey with Ben printing a trillion next year it has a chance :).

I think Ben will print more but only time will tell.

Tim

Bob, split the difference and say $3 for a minimum as entry price on Dec 31/12.
That keeps the real riff-raff out but still allows many small companies to play.

I would suggest a minimum share price, whether 2, 3 or 5, - BUT have a minimum market cap exception if below the share price threshhold (maybe $200 or $250 million).

That way stocks like MMT.V (over $500 million market cap) aren't penalized for being low priced (unlike END or HNR that are higher priced but only have market caps of ~$300 million).
