Most of the time the Doc will only give you a 3 month prescription of some continuous meds. Forcing you back into the office for another payday for him.

Doctors typically don't force you back into the office just for a 3 month extension of continuous meds. They can renew a prescription over the phone, via fax, or via some other method.

No, ideally the visit to the office is to monitor progress and side effects. These are based on guidelines written by the FDA, the pharma companies, and (maybe) insurance.

Of course, I'm sure that some doctors abuse the system and make patients come in just for another payday. If that's the case, I would suggest finding another doctor. But most doctors I know are too busy to waste time seeing patients face-to-face just to renew their prescriptions.
