Which of the 10,000 sects of "Christian'" are you referring too down thru the bloody ages ? Spaniards vs English? English vs French? German vs Italian? English vs Italian? To the American Colonist vs religious theocratic Monarchy? Then Calvinist Puritan Colonist against new immigrant Catholic? You live in a story-book world of fantasy just like all the other views you hold , but you don't really hold any studied views do you? And from what templates & creation were those ideas of democratic & republics derived? The original body of great metaphysics , philosophies, wisdoms, maxims, parables that lived fully formed even before Alexander's famed encounter with Diogenes 300bc, the most powerful man in the world was asked by the philosopher to not to stand in his light. Then a few good men , rediscovered that wisdom finally revitalized during the Rennaisance awakening, the ancient philosophers of old from where it all began which survived to ring the bell of reason again , where religion failed. Be a dummy all you like for it reflects well on your "religion" , but the great accomplishment of the establishment of this country was the founding of a Secular Republic not a "Christian Nation" . And this was the long hard fought realization of men who saw the dangers of new persecutions , bigotry, racism & denial of rights on these shores by practised theologians & preachers, that was virutally the same as the tyranny they had sought to escape. Reason, moderation, self rule and secular freedom for all beliefs & philosphies won victories , not Christianity which was itself has been modified & improved by those far older examples of greater reason. Little baby steps at a time , the only problem is the average "American Christian" barely knows much of anything about history even of their own country or religion , just story book little fantasies like yours.
