We have a predicament, not a problem.
....
If the principal of the school had a weapon she could have defended the school.

Well, the second sentence points to the way out of the predicament! All we need to do is hire a fully armed vet for each school. That'll keep the nuts away! And will help relieve unemployment among veterans as well.

Maybe and maybe not. Depends on who gets the drop first.

A better solution is to teach all five year olds and above personal responsibility. They should all learn to shoot, eat their vegetables, carry concealed weapons, sit in circles, shoot first and ask questions later.

What's the matter Jimmy. You a sissy or what?

I know you aren't serious. This is my response to those who are actually suggesting this.

We should keep our children safe by having shootouts in classrooms? And is the principal supposed to stand at the door (every door) of the school to ensure that no gun-carrying maniacs enter?

How much sense does that really make? The principal of the school could have defended it only after the gunman had started shooting. From everything I've read, he did his damage in a very short time, and then killed himself. Who's to say the body count would have been any lower if the principal had been armed?
