I have noticed something very similar.Often on a stock that is having a large volume day like LSG (or MMT this week) the stock seems to trade by group buys that leave the price unchanged but fill all the orders above and below it ex.....MMT appeared to hit bottom in the low $1.50 range and was heading higher under strong buying.I bid a few cents under the price trading in case it retraced somewhere thru the day.....but surprise my order was filled almost instantly without the trading price deviating off the higher price.

The stock price continued higher but some sort of program was being used to pick up as many trades either side of the trading price regardless of direction.....i imagine as you noticed that end of day they would balance their position and tally the scalps.

With TSX ,Alpha , Chi-x , Pure , Omega , TriAct and TMX Select all competing for orders in Canada we are going to see a lot more of this volatility as they fight each other to gain volume share and balance positions.

Besides LSG .....TCM and RIM both had good weeks.
