Low hanging fruit. I don't think any but the most creepy (let 'em die) republicans will refuse to spend more to help the mentally ill. And do they really want to say "let 'em die" when it's little 5 -10 year old children? Maybe some do- but I doubt they'll find much support in America. We can help the mentally ill. We even know how to help them. We need only the will, and some money. Perhaps this will give that undertaking the impetus it needs. I do think gun control is doable. Obviously we'll never be as healthy a country as the other Western democracies. They're just too far ahead of us, and we are too violent. But we can do better. It would be unrealistic, imo, and self defeating to believe this is the best we can do. We are a better nation that this, yes we are.
