That astonishes me. Those sources are the downstream evolution of some of mankind's finest thinkers from Edmund Burke and Adam Smith on. That they are so airily dismissed is a frightening omen.

They represent views little understood and in eclipse, thanks to success in shifting blame for obvious failures of the state.

As the consequences of politicians applying their "wisdom" pile up, classical liberalism will be revisited by more serious people. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

That is precisely why truly liberal prescriptions always deliver the best results. The discovery chains of trial and error, with intermittent successes fostering more of the same, that improve our condition are hindered by centralized control. Freedom delivers, alternatives don't.

A familiarity with Hayekian reasoning would offer illumination, but takes more effort that most can, or will, give.
