Americans aren't Japanese and don't obey authority as easily. There are said to be 300 million guns in American's hands. The FBI says its done 16.8M background checks for gun ownership so far in 2012. I'll bet we go over 20 million next year with all this gun banning talk. Gun sales are up under Obama, partially because of fears a move will be made to ban guns. Surveys say between 40 and 50% of homes in America have firearms. Such surveys may understate that a bit since people in states with restrictive laws may lie. We should assume about half the country are gun owners. Do liberals know that the more they preach about banning guns in the media, the more guns the other half of the country will buy? No, they never realize the unintended consequences of what they do.

Feinstein will introduce assault weapons ban in Senate

Posted by Sean Sullivan on December 16, 2012 at 11:08 am

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) vowed Sunday to introduce legislation to ban assault weapons at the start of the next Congress.

“I’m going to introduce in the Senate and the same bill will be introduced in the House, a bill to ban assault weapons. It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession. Not retroactively but prospectively. And it will ban the same for big clips, drums or strips of more than 10 bullets. So there will be a bill. We’ve been working on it now for a year,” Feinstein said on NBC’s “Meet The Press” during a discussion about guns following Friday’s deadly mass shooting as a Connecticut school.

Feinstein said she was confident such a measure could pass. In a separate interview on Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he too was was optimistic about the prospect of passing a gun control measure.

“I think we can get something done,” said Schumer on CBS’s “Face The Nation.” Schumer advocated focusing on three areas: Banning assault weapons, limiting the size of clips, and making it harder for “mentally unstable” individuals to obtain firearms.

There you go...arm everyone so more guns can fall into the hands of disturbed people and we're all looking over our shoulders in our daily lives. Great idea...tell the Japanese who have virtually eliminated gun violence (and guns)....

You are an idiot. The number of people with concealed weapons permits will always be small......probably less than 5%. It's about 3% in Colorado now. If that theater shooter had picked any one of the other 6 theaters that
were showing the Batman film within 20 minutes of his residence, he would have almost certainly been confronted with an IMMEDIATE armed response. The outcome could have been VERY different. But he chose the one theater (not the closest to his residence or the largest) that had NO CONCEALED WEAPONS signs posted outside. (Aurora Colorado, Va. Tech, Oregon Mall, Sikh temple, Fort Hood, Conn. school) all NO CARRY ZONES ........insuring an armed response was at least 5 minutes away. Please show me one multiple (3+) death shooting of this type in the US that DID NOT occur in a NO CONCEALED WEAPON zone. We are all waiting.

As for the JAPANESE

Message 28290148

more Japanese kill THEMSELVES in any year than the number of suicides and gun homicides
COMBINED in the US.......no violence there. The Japs even have the cost factor worked out. If you jump in front of a train, they charge the family for how long it disrupts traffic.........how long it takes them to scrape you off the tracks and get things going again.
