I agree with your approach There are too many serious issues that assume the guise of irrepairable, so let's just wring our hands and try and get by ..normally this frustration is used in other areas like banks that are too big to fail so never mind.. ..or wars that we can't figure out how to end This gun issue, like the others may appear to be intractable, but I know that well intentioned people can figure out a way to seriously reduce this insanity if we can't eliminate it altogether ..to offer as an excuse that it can't be eliminated so let's do nothing is sick
