The news media is pissing me off this morning ... they are inviting copycats by their coverage. Just saw some gratuitous coverage that sounded like it was crossing the line to me... It is only a matter of time until we hear "Which neighborhoods in your area are most at risk for a Newtown massacre? News at 11."

That's why I drew attention to the definitional problems. We can argue that these acts are such that the perpetrator must have been mentally unstable. That kind of circular reasoning won't help at all.

The problem with your argument is that it can lead to "lock up the mentally ill" policies. That's why I'm resisting this notion.
