I think the second amendment "well regulated militia" clause allows plenty of room for a saner court to move in gun control directions. We just need the right interpreters.

I agree. If you house felons or mentally ill in your house, or have them visit you in your home, it is not unlike claiming a right to smoke in the dynamite factory. Your rights can be abridged when a reasonable outcome of your rights could be grave public harm. Shouting fire in a theater is not protected free speech. Fighting words are not free speech. Having a house full of unsecured weapons with felons and lunatics is not a second amendment right. IMHO.
