I don't think I was really accusing Lindy of hypocrisy.

I think it was more of a case of saying, "he doth protest too much" about government spending when he himself was a recipient.

I still don't get your analogy about slaves. If you can point out any historical references to slaves protesting AGAINST their owners because they were spending too much on food that the slaves were receiving but still taking all they could get then you may have a point. Maybe there was a riot some place in 1857 with all the slaves yelling, "Massa knows we gettin' obese but he still give us too much".
