Bush and Greenspan created the housing mess by pumping money into the economy at an unsustainable rate. Homeowners wanted to make money sure, but they couldn't have done it without a corrupt and totally stupid administration that allowed banks to do anything they wanted. To play mind games with yourself to support your narrow ideology is as unfair to yourself as it is to those who want a better tomorrow without the problems caused by overleveraging.
