>>>Again, I couldn't care less if the ACSA is a bunch of crackheaded, looney tune Microsuckups. I only care if what they have to say has any validity.<<<

The only added value an organization provides over anybody else's opinion is that you may rely on their reputation.

So far I'm with Dan, this outfit's rhetoric reminds me of a certain fellow who was once a communist and then a far-right fusion power cult leader with antagonistic cult members in every airport. It was the first thing the passage reminded me of, in it's style.

I don't know if this is the same group or not. Probably not I guess, though the style is uncannily the same.

But the 2.5 million member claim seems like a key piece of BS. Just on the basis of that, I would give their ideas no credence at all, until we know more about them. I think the newspapers should dig into this.

Again, I couldn't care less if the ACSA is a bunch of crackheaded, looney tune Microsuckups. I only care if what they have to say has any validity. If it doesn't, I'm sure that you and others here will make that abundantly clear <vbg>.

Well, is it abundantly clear at this point? (;-), I think) Do you think the ACSA filing an amicus brief with Judge Jackson would help Microsoft? Do you think the Judge would enjoy hearing about the Gang of Five conspiracy against Microsoft?

I read the message from the Microsoft group you originally refered to, and checked out the ACSA site. I posted, somewhat acerbicly, what I saw there. To reiterate, concisely, a bunch of hysterical ranting, from an "organization" with allegedly 2.5 million members, that doesn't post the names of its officers, only a lawyer, a PR guy, and a bunch of very dubious sounding researchers. What I could judge technically was about as sensible as the whole "Gang of Five Conspiracy" line. Again, if that's the best you Microsoft guys can come up with, I'd be a little worried if I were you. Of course, in court at least, Microsoft will be well represented, Neukom is no more a dummy that Bill is, and there's always Charles "Rick" Rule in the stable, even if he's now employed "on other matters". But I think the herd of Ilk that's growing in the press corp is going to be a bit troublesome as time goes on. Or maybe not, great wealth buys a lot of uncritical reverence in the business press, and investment wise that may be all that counts. Warped techno-political wonk that I am, it's all entertainment to me.

Cheers, Dan.
