After market close, 3COM CORP said that it has reduced inventory
levels at its channel partners and revised its inventory practices
across partners, business units and geographies worldwide to help
increase predictability and linearity of sales as well as simplify
the administration of inventory in global channels. Because 3Com
decided to converge on the new inventory management model quickly,
2Q sales are now expected to be between $1.22 billion and $1.24
billion for the 2Q of fiscal 1998 which ended November 30. Sales
in this range are expected to result in a slight profit for the
quarter. Analysts' mean estimates were $0.44, according to First
Call. (Businesswire)

Re: irrational is always a buying opportunity... contrians delight

I agree. I'm long 50% since around $31 some weeks ago. With hot knifes, I usually buy the other 50% when prices go down another 20% or so. I fared very well with this approach so far.

Maybe I'll buy today at $30 for the accounts for which I have not bought the initial 50% yet.

Thanks, Thomas
