So yeah. three of the nations are doing considerably better while two pretty much match the US.> No, the populations of those countries (ALL of them) are doing better than the average population here. I would throw Britain in there as well, as they still have a better safety net than we do, but let's not quibble. :) We were not talking safety nets...........we were talking economies. There has never been a question that Europe has the better safety net.......which is starting to get a little frayed around the edges I might point out. "Substantial" just means "meaningful"... not trivial. I never meant "majority". Huh? So my point is that you are lumping Europe together... a lot of the countries you sight have always had problems and were accidents waiting to happen... the cultural differences are massive, and anyone could have predicted exactly which countries (in fact everyone did during the debates about letting these countries into the "Euro-zone") were going to have problems. "Europe" is to "Denmark" as USA is to Guam. LOL I was talking Europe from the get go.That should not come as a surprise to you. Now you're trying to change the focus. Sorry. I said Europe. And let me add.........even with Germany, I will place my bet on the US. Why? The US economy is in recovery while Germany's is going back into recession. And Germany's largest trading partners.............S. Europe.........are a mess.
