Adam Lanza, Jared Laughner, the Korean kid at Va Tech, etc should all have been in mental asylums. But liberals had the state mental hospitals closed in the '60's and '70's cause they said they were oppressive. Damn Ken Kesey for telling everyone Nurse Ratched types tortured people there. Because of liberals you can't lock up crazy people till after they break a serious law. Even then, they try to set them free asap.

When JFK and his brother Robert signed the Deinstitutionlization bill in October, 1963, we started down the path on eliminating the Mental Health hospitals. When you look up that word, you will see many links. It was to be (and was) a phased in process over the next few years.

Here's a couple of the many links....

The Kennedy family wanted their sister Rosemary to be cared for at home; thus the bill. What they forgot was not everyone in this country could afford 24/7 medical services at home for mentally ill patients. What they also forgot is that there was no way to really provide much, if any, care for the homeless people, as obviously, those people had no home in which to be treated.

49 years later, it appears now that this whole situation has worsened.
