Snipers on towers would be more rational and effective - but who wants to do that? We have an unlimited right to be crazy in this country until it is proven to be a problem. You don't have that right with physical illness. They will not let you board a plane if you look like you've got the plague. If you are talking to monsters in your head - you roam free until you do something that proves your a harm. My daughter just got patted down, scanned and swabbed for explosives on her return from Disneyland with her boyfriend. She is a pretty petite brunette - seriously? Why not profile? Because it hurts people's feelings and violates their rights. Nevermind that checking 18 year olds returning from Disneyland is like mining gold from chocolate pudding mix.
