What does this have to do with shooting them for "fun"? And the most important thing, showing your children that senseless killing of living creatures is "good fun"?

Of course, shooting "varmints" for fun is not something that should be taught. But, there are legitimate reasons to kill certain "varmints". It was not clear to me you understand or appreciate the difference. It still isn't.

People do hunt for enjoyment ... whether for deer or other game or varmints using a garden or orchard as a feeding ground ... and it is enjoyable or people wounldn't do it. Wind animals don't sit there and let people shoot them. You have to learn how to be stealthy, learn about the game and its habits and lifestyle and get yourself into position to make the shot, and be a good enough marksman. There's a sense of satisfaction and achievement in being able to do that. Doing something that takes some skill brings a sense of accomplishment. I will say I don't have the interest in hunting anymore that I once did, but that's because I've already done it.
